Song to listen to while reading this chapter: "Careless Whisper" by Seether
Well, uh...wow. I'm happy, other people aren't, so let's get into it.
So we start off with Lille proving that he cannot swim gooder because for whatever reason, he keeps moving away from the surface of the water despite swimming up. After noting that people apparently lose both body heat AND morale upon hitting cold water, Shunsui notes that one can only be so shameful and says something about a man who didn't keep a promise and a woman who couldn't forget her love for him before asking for confirmation on this from his Zanpakutō Spirit, who looks...exactly like her filler version.
Anyway, apparently Shunsui got hurt because he's a crossdresser and the woman's mean, but she's still loyal to him. Lille, however, being a scrub, can't see who Shunsui's talking to and proclaims that he can't die to a Bankai before trying to attack, only for Shunsui to blow up his neck with the last act of his Bankai. Yeesh, talk about overkill. Shunsui pervs on the lady and the lady says they're alike, but all the fun and games is interrupted by Shunsui being shot with a special beam cannon as Lille rises from the abyss, complete with a new Reishi head.
Interesting chapter this week. I was correct about the fight not being over, though I think we'll be headed into a flashback for Shunsui next week, but moreover I'm very happy about Katen Kyōkotsu looking exactly like the woman from the Zanpakutō arc - I figure that the little girl is what the spirit looks like in Shikai, while the woman appears in Bankai, similar to what happened with Zangetsu. The final act of the Bankai was pretty cool, if a bit over the top, but since Lille survived that I guess there's nothing left but for Nanao to return and aid Shunsui with her Shikai somehow.
Apologies for the shorter review, but I need to wake up in 4 hours for work. gg mangapanda.
