It's been over three months since I last wrote a blog on here and I don't know how many people are actually gonna see this, but I figure it's worth a shot.
The final arc's handling of characters old and new was...inconsistent, to say the least. Many characters, such as the Visored, who should've had their time to shine were pushed aside yet again, while mainstays like Kenpachi, Hitsugaya, and Byakuya were not only heavily featured, especially toward the end, but even brought back from the dead due to fan outcry (I stand by the fact that this happened to Byakuya fite me scrubs). However, I want to take time to focus on the characters, returning and newly introduced during the final 207 chapters, who were genuinely and properly handled for mo…Read more >
Song to weep to while tearing into this final chapter: "Thank You!", the first ending theme of the anime
Well...here we are. Far sooner than expected or deserved for some, far later than it should've been for others, but we've officially reached the end.
As with last chapter, I'm mainly just gonna cover the stuff introduced because it's less a plot and more a string of introductions and explanations - which isn't a bad thing, especially after all the flak this arc has gotten for having chapters with little content or whatever.
So first off, we get some great color pages of the OG cast ensemble plus Renji. I've always loved Kubo's color pages, and these are no exception. Then, we get some of the captains investigating the Reiatsu thing mention…Read more >
Song to listen to while reading this chapter: "Life Is Like A Boat"
On the plus side, the title is misleading and we've still got a chapter and a major announcement left to go. On the other hand...Bleach is still ending. Cue every Linkin Park song playing simultaneously to express my current emotional state.
This is where I'd normally write the play-by-play, but I stayed up all night and into the morning for this chapter because for some likely ungodly reason, Stream decided to change up their release schedule for no reason and release it after One Piece and frickin' Nisekoi instead of first thing in the morning, so I'm raelly tired and still digesting all the status quo changes here. Ukitake is dead, Rose and Kensei are alive, Rukia/Iba/Lis…Read more >
Song to listen to while reading this chapter: "I Will Not Die" by Three Days' Grace
Wow. Just...wow. I didn't want to believe the news of Bleach ending next week with 685, but I'm hard-pressed to think of what else this pacing could mean.

So we start off where we left off last week with Ichigo cutting Yhwach in half. Yhwach proceeds to melt into a puddle of eyebally black goop as Aizen finally explains his masterwork keikaku: he released Kyōka Suigetsu against Yhwach (idk how he got it back but okay), proved that Absolute Hypnosis could affect Yhwach even with The Almighty, then waited for Ichigo to show up and rek him because Ichigo would be the only other combatant not affected by the illusions. Sound plan, but unfortunately Aizen's cut off by …

So we start off with Ichigo predictably getting rekted by another energy blast that actually destroys part of Sōkyoku Hill. Guess there won't be anymore illogical and power-motivated executions for a while. Yhwach asks the burning question of why Ichigo didn't have Orihime patch him up before he followed him through the portal and chalks it up to a perceived lack of time on his part, though he already told Ichigo that he can't change anything. Suddenly, though, Renji apparently mans up and tries to get a hit on Yhwach with his Bankai, only for Yhwach to just up and blow off one of his arms - …
