Hey y'all, it's Mrlmm1996 coming to talk to you about Bleach! This is not a discussion of individual episodes or chapters; rather, it is a look at the main ideas of Bleach, illustrated using examples from the story to prove a point. It is to be noted that, as this blog uses examples from Bleach fiction to make its point, there are unmarked spoilers contained throughout, so read at your own risk. Also, this blog is NOT a replacement for the Wiki's pages on the subject of discussion; I will not tell you what something is, but I will discuss what I think it means. The thoughts portrayed below will not be embraced by everyone, and I welcome dissenting opinions in the comments. Please, keep all responses within the confines of Bleach Wiki's Policies and the Wikia Terms of Use.

Song of the Week: [Push Pull Destroy] by Battlecross

I'm gonna try something a little bit different this week. See, I had said in a comment to my Yhwach rant that I did not have a way to talk about the Quincy as a whole, because they all have disparate characters and motivations without a real unifying theme. So, I've chosen to tackle them at random, starting with the Sternritter. Whenever I do an alphabet post, I will choose 3-4 Sternritter and give my two cents about them. These will be much shorter looks than on a more dedicated individual rant, but I think many of you will still like them. Also, the song of the week will have something to do with the chosen Sternritter.

I'm going to start this off with Sternritter P, Meninas Mcallon. Bearer of the epithet P - The Power, Meni has superhuman strength and an ability to enlarge her muscles. I don't know precisely why someone with superhuman strength already would need artificially huge biceps, but it's a thing she can do. Meni is notably for being the anti-Orihime: she's simultaneously more girly that the mildly tomboyish Orihime, whilst also being much more violent and aggressive. She packs a punch and a heart bow, to be sure. Unfortunately, we never really see her do anything. She never had a major 'onscreen' solo fight, never showcased the capabilities of her Quincy: Vollständig, and was incapacitated by her comrade Liltotto Lamperd after being hit by PePe Waccabrada's creepy rape laser. She could've been so much more, but was instead sidelined because LOL Schutzstaffel.

Speaking of LOL Schutzstaffel, it's time to turn to everyone's favorite Sternritter bro, Sternritter D, Askin Nakk Le Vaar. Bearer of the epithet D - The Deathdealing, Askin possesses the curious ability to change how much of something it takes to kill an individual. For example, we all know that intake of too much water can lead to a form of drowning, especially if one aspirates the water. Askin can make it so that a person can drown after taking in a single sip of water, or a drop, or a molecule. He can also likely increase the amount needed to kill someone (for example, making it impossible to drown without taking in an ocean's worth of water), but that's never been shown directly, though it would make his repeated survival of seemingly lethal injuries a bit more sensible. Askin is unique in that he is a fresh promotion to the Schutzstaffel, being plucked from the front lines by Yhwach himself. That being said, he demonstrated a remarkable capacity for battle against Ōetsu Nimaiya, being the only one of the four Sternritter present who could hope to combat the Elite Guard swordsman through both his Schrift abilities and personal intelligence. Askin is a case study in irony: an erratic man is the only one level headed to face a combat master, a man fearful of death controls it at will, and a flunky picked to fill a gap is the most combat capable of the Schutzstaffel. A person made of conflicting extremes, Askin definitely seems ready for his moment in the spotlight.

Speaking of moment in the spotlight, I'm closing this out with a person who seems intent on hogging it as of late, Sternritter B Jugram 'Jugo' Haschwalth. His epithet is unknown, though it is likely The Balance or something similar, and he holds the title of Sternritter Grandmaster and right hand man to the emperor. A powerful combatant, Jugo was recently revealed to possess the opposite spectrum of Yhwach's Auswählen power: wile JuJu-Man can absorb powers, Jugo can redistribute his own energy to the benefit of others. An abused child, Jugram is representative of the human need for belonging. Like a beaten animal, he clings to whoever can offer him safety and purpose. Initially choosing to accompany his friend Bazz-B, he chose the purpose offered to him by Yhwach and joined the early Sternritter. In present day, he is a loyal if cold follower of His Majesty, rarely showing emotion save devotion to his leader and protecting him from all who would threaten his rule, from Ichigo to Bazz. With more development likely coming his way in the next chapter, Jugo is proof that a whipped dog can still bare its fangs.

And that was my look at the first three Sternritter in my alphabet soup rants. I hope you guys enjoyed it. I might revisit Askin and/or Jugo if future developments warrant my doing so, so stay tuned! Also, I have no idea if this will be a week by week thing or if I will do this completely at random. Anyway, see you all next week, and don't forget to respond to the poll!

Who was your favorite Sternritter out of the three covered this week?

The poll was created at 02:09 on July 5, 2015, and so far 27 people voted.
