Holy Crap! I am actually writing a review on time this week! Well, it's that time of the week again, time to review brand new episodes of the Bleach anime. After a quite depressing news cycle this weekend, a nice little review will hopefully lighten up the mood. Before I begin, voting is open for April's Featured Article, Featured Picture and Featured Quote! So please vote!

First a kudos to Studio Pierrot for making another pretty decent one-shot filler episode. When I saw the preview last week, I thought to myself "Well this looks like it will suck, like no bleach filler has sucked before!" However, I was quite surprised when the episode came out, and it was pretty decent, and dare I say it was actually entertaining. The only things I really didn't like were Ken (WHAT AN A#$&%&!), and Ichigo using Getsuga Tenshō.

I am never going to be fully satisfied with Ichigo keeping Zangetsu in Shikai form, so it's best I just let it go, because it is just a waste of time getting ticked off about it. I think it would have been better for Ichigo to have pre-shikai Zangetsu from season 1, instead of his shikai. I think it would not have gone too out of the realm of possibility to have Rukia give Ichigo some of her powers to slow down the loss of Ichigo's powers, but not having it be enough for him to retain shikai. I think it would make for an interesting filler arc for Ichigo to only have his abilities from the Substitute arc and attempt to defeat an extremely powerful enemy. The best way to end it would be for Ichigo to fire a big Getsuga Tenshō(not mugestsu though, more like the one from the Zanpakutō arc), and he finally looses all of his powers and the farewell scene happens. I think it would have made a really cool arc. Oh Well, no use crying over it, I'll just enjoy the anime, no matter what form it is in.

Anyway back to the episode, I really liked Kon being well...Kon! I liked how references were made back from season 1, and Kon really putting a high value on life. Kon's value of life is definitely one of his most admiring characteristics. Without getting into my personally political opinions (Yes, I support a woman's right to choose, but please let's not go into that), I do believe that people should be allowed to live however they want, and really deep down, Kon is a really good guy. Plus Kon pulling a Wile E. Coyote is just classic!

Other than that I thought the episode was well constructed from beginning to end, and it was funny, sad, happy, silly, it had all the ingredients of a good episode.

Final Rundown

  • Story 7/10
  • Art/Animation 7/10
  • Sound Effects 9/10
  • Music 8/10
  • Acting 8/10
  • Omake 7/10

I give Bleach episode 314 a 7.7 out of 10. Remember to join me next Tuesday when I review Bleach episode 315 or my special piece I have been working on, and join me on Saturday, when I review Bleach 197 dubbed. Until Next Time! --Lemursrule (talk) 04:31, March 23, 2011 (UTC)
