Bount

Pardon the sudden questioning, but has it ever been disclosed why Studio Pierrot chose the name "Bount"? I have been curious, as it is written in katakana, and no kanji is supplied, so it is therefore unlikely to be a proper Japanese word in any sense, but I cannot find what language it is a loanword from.
