Senbonzakura & Zabimaru Trapped is an event taking place in the Tōjū Campaign. It focuses upon the entrapment of Zanpakutō spirits Senbonzakura and Zabimaru, alongside Ashisogi Jizō, culminating in the destruction of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute's facility.
A Tōjū conceals itself inside a vase, as several Shinigami unknowingly rush past the object in search of him. As they leave, the Tōjū emerges from the vase with its hammer. He looks uneasily from left to right before coming face-to-face with Chimpette. As he backs away from her, she tells him that she is tired of playing games. Chimpette tells him to give up, hurling her Shikai at him. The Hammer Tōjū knocks the attack away with his hammer as Zabimaru's Shikai dematerializes.
Snakey calls from behind him, taunting the Tōjū as it is unable to strike him. He deflects the Tōjū's strike with his Shikai and holds it in place, allowing Chimpette to exploit his temporary ailment by kicking him in the face. He is knocked down onto the ground, as the other Shinigami come onto the scene who praise their quick thinking. As they are showered with praise, the Tōjū emerges from behind them and thrusts his hammer into the ground. This attack traps Snakey and Chimpette in a mound of dirt while the Tōjū finishes off the other Shinigami.
Chimpette comments that they have to save their comrades from being attacked. They both try to squeeze out from the mound, but find themselves unable to. The Tōjū towers over them, preparing to finish them off. He raises his hammer, but Senbonzakura releases his Shikai, the petals immersing the Tōjū. As the petals disperse, the Tōjū's form disintegrates back into a katana and shatters in two. The broken katana falls upon Snakey and Chimpette, as Senbonzakura tells them that they let their guards down.
Later, Snakey and Chimpette overhear 6th Division chatter about Senbonzakura's abilities and become more unnerved with every praising. They overhear the members referring to them as being weak in comparison to Senbonzakura. Chimpette expresses here frustration with those comments while Snakey comments on how he will beat them up. However, Renji Abarai interjects and bangs their heads onto the desk. He berates them for letting their petty comments rile them up, telling them to finish writing up their report. Chimpette asks him why they have to write a report, as Snakey backs up this comment.
Renji states that they should revert to sword form, if they do not want to help. He claims that their actions are very problematic for him, as Snakey pleads sarcastically with Renji. Renji grabs Snakey by the ears, claiming that there is no reason for them to be materialized if they are defeated by the enemy so easily. Chimpette reiterates that they have no choice, but to act that way, considering that they inherited their fighting style from Renji himself. Renji wonders why he is to blame, commenting that he dislikes the way everyone is comparing Zabimaru to Byakuya Kuchiki's Senbonzakura.
Arrival at the 12th Division
Snakey and Chimpette are at edge with this statement, as they get up and leave. Renji asks them where they are going, to which Chimpette states that they have to return the Tōjū to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute. He inquires of their report, to which she states it is finished. As they leave, Renji comments about the annoying nature of his Zanpakutō, and is shocked when he sees a message reading "Screw you" scribbled on the desk. He calls out to Snakey and Chimpette, but they are already are long gone.
Snakey and Chimpette arrive at the entrance to the S.R.D.I, inquiring whether anyone is there. They realize that no one is present, and Chimpette comments that it would be too much effort to sit around waiting for them. Hence, Chimpette bends the bars of a window protecting the Institute, and proceeds to jump down. However, the spacing is too small for her to fit through, as Snakey starts to choke from the chain around his neck. Chimpette asks him to assist her, attempting to yank the chain out with force.
Senbonzakura asks them what they are doing, to which Chimpette states that it is obvious. They are surprised by his sudden appearance, breaking free from the bars. As they collapse to the ground below, Senbonzakura comments that their actions have sunk to an all-new level. Chimpette ignores his comment, asking the Zanpakutō spirit what he is doing here. He explains that Byakuya ordered him to drop off the Tōjū at the S.R.D.I, as Snakey states that they were also assigned the same objective.
They comment that everyone is out, as Senbonzakura explains that they are all doing field research. Chimpette comments that it is very unusual to leave the building alone, without a single person to guard it. Snakey asks Senbonzakura how he came in, to which the Zanpakutō states that he walked in through the front door, indicating a gaping hole in the infrastructure. Snakey and Chimpette berate him, proclaiming that he was the one that was breaking and entering. Senbonzakura claims that he didn't want to wait for later, telling them to follow him.
Snakey whispers to Chimpette that he is immature, as Chimpette realizes that the Shinigami do not understand his true nature.
The Tōjū Chamber, Senbonzakura's Mischief
As the trio enter Mayuri's Tōjū chamber, Snakey is frightened by the numerous Tōjū immobilized in tanks. He clutches onto Chimpette for support, who in turn calls him pathetic. They walk across the chamber's hallway, coming across a tank which is empty. Chimpette picks up a remote resting on the dial, and opens the glass tank's sampling device. Snakey looks on in awe, asking how she was able to operate it. Chimpette explains that she has been here many times alongside Renji.
Chimpette returns the remote, which Senbonzakura stares at intently. As Snakey and Chimpette place the broken Tōjū inside the container, it returns into the glass tank. She turns to face Senbonzakura, who is tapping the keys on the remote repeatedly. Chimpette shouts at him, asking what he is doing which surprises Senbonzakura. He promptly drops the remote. It clatters onto the ground, as Senbonzakura tells her not to startle him like that. Chimpette tells him not to press random buttons, as a klaxon alarm rings out through the institute.
They are alerted by the ringing noise, as a glass container immediately seals them inside with the broken Tōjū's katana. Senbonzakura emotionlessly wonders what happened, as Snakey and Chimpette comment that they are now trapped in an emergency defense barricade. They wonder how they are going to escape, as Senbonzakura states that it is a simple matter. He proceeds to release his Shikai, which envelops the glass chamber, much to the protests of Snakey and Chimpette. However, it is unable to penetrate the wall, and Senbonzakura comments upon its toughness.
As he tries to continue, Snakey and Chimpette tell him he has done more than enough. They both explain that the glass has been strengthened in order to restrict a Tōjū's powers. Senbonzakura asks them what he should do instead, to which Chimpette comments that they will have to wait until Mayuri and the other S.R.D.I members return. He agrees and sits on the ground earnestly, stating that it cannot be helped. However, he is unable to garner the patience required and jumps into action.
Chimpette stops him, as Senbonzakura raises his blade to her. He explains that he counted from 1 to 10, as Chimpette berates him for having little patience. Snakey and Chimpette grab onto him in an effort to prevent him from being overly reckless, but their squabbles are interrupted by the surprise appearance of Ashisogi Jizō .
Ashisogi Jizō travels down towards them, as the trio try to signal his attention. He pivots towards them, as Chimpette asks him whether he was assigned to take care of the Institute. Snakey pleads with him to let them out, as they continually bicker behind the glass. However, it is also soundproof as Ashisogi Jizō does not understand what they are saying. Senbonzakura points towards the remote dial, as it nods promptly and leaves their presence.
It arrives moments later with a bunch of bananas, as Senbonzakura resolves himself to kill the confused Ashisogi Jizō. However, Snakey and Chimpette restrain him once more as Ashisogi Jizō tentatively picks up the remote control. They stop their squabbling, signalling to him to press the button. He shouts at Ashisogi Jizō to press the button, causing the Zanpakutō spirit to crack the remote into pieces. The trio then start to lose faith in ever getting out, as Ashisogi Jizō is surprised as to what he has done.
Senbonzakura releases his Reiatsu, causing Ashisogi Jizō to cower in fear. He accuses the tiny Zanpakutō of breaking the remote on purpose, as Chimpette snidely comments that it was primarily due to the murderous aura he instills. Snakey begins to panic, wondering what they should do now that the remote is broken. Chimpette states that they have no choice, but to wait for the others to return, but Senbonzakura refuses to. He releases his Bankai, prompting Snakey and Chimpette to duck for cover.
The resultant force causes an explosion within the institute, successfully breaking free from the glass chamber. Senbonzakura comments that that was a lot easier than he expected, to which he is kicked by Chimpette, informing him of the damage he has caused. They argue momentarily, as another alarm blares out across the room. They wonder what is going on, as the blast doors begin to gradually close. Snakey states that they are going to get trapped again, as they run towards the exit.
Snakey asks Senbonzakura whether he knows where he is going, to which he states that he has no clue. Chimpette then asks why he is leading them, prompting him to claim that the only person he will allow to lead him anywhere is his master. They both berate him for acting solely upon his pride, as a doorway comes into view. He directs them to follow him, the trio safely making it underneath the closing doors in time. They emerge in a room filled with computers, lightly injured, but otherwise alright.
Senbonzakura inquires whether they are hurt, and they both say that they are alright. Chimpette points out that his mask is cracking, as it collapses onto the floor. Snakey and Chimpette are surprised at his facial features, but only shortly before he puts a new mask over his face, which surprises them once more. They wonder where he was able to hide a spare within his clothing. Snakey changes the subject, wondering where they ended up. Senbonzakura speculates that they arrived in the main control room.
Chimpette states that this is perfect, and prepares to shut off the emergency alarm. However, as she turns on the computer, a montage of images across Soul Society appear upon the screen. Chimpette realizes that the 12th Division has all of Seireitei under constant surveillance, as Senbonzakura comments upon the perverse nature of this idea. He presses a button upon the keyboard, promptly ruining Renji's spa bath. Chimpette once again asks him what he is doing, to which he states that private lives should stay private.
She agrees with his sentiment, but warns him not to touch any more buttons. Snakey wonders what this is all about, to which Chimpette explains to her other self that the 12th Division is put in charge of the various technologies implemented in each Division's barracks. She states that they should be able to control everything in this one room, as Senbonzakura warns them to be careful. He presses another button, causing the urinals in the men's toilets to erupt.
In a panicked state, Senbonzakura presses a multitude of buttons in succession, resulting in chaos ensuing across Seireitei. He wonders why the machine will not turn off, as Snakey and Chimpette are forced to subdue him once more. Senbonzakura frees himself from their vice grip, slamming his fists upon the keyboard, causing greater damage to infrastructure. Chimpette asks him what he is going to do to fix this, to which he states that there is no undoing what he did.
Senbonzakura explains that they are just as guilt-ridden as he is, considering that they tagged along with him. As Senbonzakura and Chimpette argue, Snakey is alerted to the blast door behind them opening. From the mist, Snakey is relieved to see help, but his relief turns to fear as he sees who is behind the door. He clings onto Chimpette's back, repeating that they just made "him" mad. Chimpette and Senbonzakura turn in shock to see Ashisogi Jizō's Bankai form glaring at them.
The Triumvirate Conflict
Chimpette cries out in surprise at this development, moving away from the massive form. She states that Senbonzakura's impulsive actions have doomed them all, as Ashisogi Jizō attempts to break through the doors. Snakey begs Chimpette to do something, as Senbonzakura stands fearlessly before the behemoth. He raises his hand towards it and materializes his sword, stating that he accepts Ashisogi Jizō's challenge. Snakey and Chimpette are perplexed on how Senbonzakura came to that conclusion, wondering when Ashisogi Jizō actually challenged Senbonzakura.
He releases his Bankai, the swarming petals halting Ashisogi Jizō's advance. As they fight against each other, Chimpette stands annoyedly in the middle, as Snakey is hurled around the room by the petals. Ashisogi Jizō releases its poison mist, as the battle escalates. Chimpette loses her cool and pulls Snakey to her side, wondering whether they are deaf to her order to stop. She throws Snakey at the two, utilising Bankai in mid-throw. Chimpette releases Hikotsu Taihō, in an attempt to break up their fight.
This attack results in the destruction of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, as Renji emerges confused from the destroyed spa. He wonders what is going on, with a look of mixed surprise and shock appearing upon his face as he witnesses Zabimaru's Bankai twirling around in the air. Ashisogi Jizō pants heavily on the ground, as Chimpette and Snakey are shaken from their conflict. Senbonzakura appears before them, asking them whether they understood that what they were doing was dangerous.
They redirect the question back to him, as a furious Renji appears before them. The other Shinigami and Zanpakutō proceed to surround them, as Snakey and Chimpette try to plead their innocence. He wonders what they are talking about, as Renji accuses them of the destruction of the S.R.D.I. The pair state that it was Senbonzakura who dragged them along, but Senbonzakura asks for their proof. As they relay the events back to him, he provides a rational explanation clearing him of all the blame.
They realize that they did more damage than Senbonzakura did, as Renji resorts to giving them out a ton of reports to write. Shunsui Kyōraku and Jūshirō Ukitake arrive on the scene with more paperwork, stating that they need to help rebuild the buildings once they are finished. Renji forces them to work, as Chimpette wonders whether anyone knows of Senbonzakura's short fuse. However, Shunsui comments that Senbonzakura's hidden agenda is probably due to Byakuya's rebellious nature as a child.
They comment that he had a very short temper and was such a brat when he was younger, much to Renji's surprise. A Shinigami approaches them, explaining that a new Tōjū has resurfaced in Seireitei. He explains further, stating that Senbonzakura is the one leading the task force, much to Snakey and Chimpette's contempt. They believe that he will cause more harm than good, proceeding to join the task force. Renji is unable to stop them, as Shunsui laughs, claiming that they have taken up the involuntary job of keeping Senbonzakura in line.
Jūshirō brings up the topic of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute spying on the rest of Seireitei, but Shunsui tells him to let it go. He informs him that they have suffered enough, as they lost all their data in the explosion after all. As Mayuri and the other 12th Division members return back to what was formerly the S.R.D.I, he is aghast as to what transpired during their short time away. Ashisogi Jizō sits tiredly amongst the rubble, noticing his master's aggravated tone.
