Contents

Appearance

Inose is a tall Shinigami with a larger build than many of his peers. He has dark eyes and long, dark hair which is tied at the back of his neck in a pony-tail with a red tie. His face is large, with big lips and small, dark eyes. He also wears the standard Shinigami uniform.

Personality

Inose is initially distrustful regarding the news that they will have a new captain who was not part of the Gotei 13, and one who doesn't know their squad. He shows a rebellious nature as he doesn't feel this is the best thing for their squad. He feels so strongly about this to the point where he even verbally challenges the appointment himself.[1] Like others of his division, he becomes more determined due to the new influences and the eagerness to prove his worth leads to him disobeying a direct order.[2]

At the Third Division barracks, Inose stands alongside Aida as they discuss the recent appointment of a new captain for their division. They both confirm that they have never heard of Shūsuke Amagai before they received the news while Aida informs Inose that he had heard a rumor that Amagai had been a high-ranking member of the Patrol Corps for a number of years, specializing in subjugating Hollows. Inose stresses that he still doesn't like the fact that somebody who they don't know, who is also unfamiliar with their squad, has just been made their captain. He then implies that he will unlikely follow the orders of Amagai. Aida reminds him that they still have a familiar face: Izuru. The lieutenant then shows up and seems to be optimistic regarding Amagai's appointment, which annoys Inose as he believes he can't rely on his lieutenant either.[1]

Amagai meets the squad.

When Amagai arrives, he and Aida examine their new captain and Makoto Kibune from a distance, commenting on how he lacks the poise of the other captains. Amagai notices them staring and asks if something is wrong. When Aida hesitates, Inose comes forward, informing Amagai that the Third Division had been doing just fine without a captain for a while now. Amagai stops Izuru from scolding him, informing the squad that he understands why they would be distrustful of him, considering they had never met him before and were not expected to obey his command. Along with the others, Inose is shocked by the empathy shown by Amagai in regards to their situation.[1]

Later, the Third Division holds a party to welcome their new members. Amagai's fear of alcohol causes tension in the air before he faints upon consumption. Inose and Aida ask Izuru if they should clear the room, but Kibune decides to take this time to get to know the squad. Inose watches in disgust as the others tend to the unconscious Amagai, insisting once more that they were fine before, without a captain. Soon, there is an emergency announced when thirty Menos Grande show up in the Dangai and Captain-Commander Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, not knowing of Amagai's state, orders the Third Division to eliminate them. Izuru is hesitant, but Kibune convinces him they have not choice.[1]

Ep168KibuneSavesIsone
Inose is saved from the Cero by Kibune.

With the rest of his squad, Inose moves into the Dangai in order to eliminate the Menos Grande. He runs alongise Izuru until they come across the Hollows, and is immediately ordered attack. They successfully destroy five Menos Grande before the Kōryū is some how switched back on and the Kōtotsu begins to clear out the Dangai. Confused, Izuru orders the squad to retreat and whilst doing so, a Menos Grande charges a Cero and fires it at Inose. Before he is hit, Kibune jumps in front of him and nullifies the blast, protecting him, like Amagai said they would earlier in the day. Kibune encourages him to run, but as they are doing so, Inose begins panicking, assuming they are not going to make it.[1]

Ep168InoseAidaLookOnAwe
Inose looks on in awe.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

Suddenly, Amagai arrives by jumping over their heads and confronts the Kōtotsu much to everyone's surprise. He takes out his tuning fork, insisting that he had said he would always protect them despite their protests about his safety. Amagai asks if anyone has been injured, and a shocked Inose splutters that none of them are. Their captain commends Izuru for keeping the squad together, stating that he is happy that everyone is alright, deciding it is time to go back. Inose watches him walk away, obviously very impressed with his actions, along with Aida.[1]

Ep172MissionCat
Squad 3 on the mission with the cat.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

Along with the members of his squad, Inose searches for the missing cat as one of their missions. He congratulates Kibune for getting the cat when it tried to escape onto a roof. Inose expresses his dislike that they have been receiving such mundane missions, and insists that he wants to do one that really means something. Kibune calms him down by showing empathy before offering to go for a drink with the squad, which Inose enthusiastically agrees to.[3]

Ep172InoseTraining
Inose training with his squad.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

Amagai decides to do some training exercises with the squad that prove to be quite innovative, as they had never trained in such a way before. During the exercise, Inose receives a yellow headband and takes direction from Kibune exceedingly well, due to Izuru being left on the sidelines as Amagai wanted somebody experienced to lead the lesson. He surrounds others on command and demonstrates good focus as a Shinigami and ability to work as a team. All this surprises Izuru about his squad.[3]

Ep172AfterTraining
Inose states his admiration of Amagai and Kibune.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

While washing up after training, Inose states that he is very impressed with the training, comparing Amagai to how Gin Ichimaru never trained the squad in a similar way, stressing how his opinion of Amagai is improving greatly. He and Aida also discuss how Kibune is also a great addition to the squad, with Aida believing he is more reliable that Izuru, and Inose wondering if he will become their new lieutenant. Aida tells him his is going too far in saying that, with neither aware that Izuru is listening. Later that evening, Inose arrives with the others to help Izuru and Kibune out of the execution pit they had somehow fallen into. Izuru glances suspiciously at Kibune, who is standing with Inose and Kanō as he notices the look he receives.[3]

Ep179Assembly
The Third Division wait at the assembly site.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

Days later, the Third Division gathers at an old assembly hall, that Inose had only previously heard stories of its existence, learning that Kibune had requested special permission for them all to train there. When they request to know where their captain is, Izuru informs them that he is at a meeting to request joining training exercises among the squads of the Gotei 13. He later informs them in his office that the proposal was, unfortunately, rejected.[2]

Ep179InoseEmbarassed
Inose embarrassingly reveals he did the Fourth Division laundry.

Due to their new experience in coordinating their efforts with Amagai's training, Inose is disappointed that they had missed out on a chance to show off their new skills. They all start complaining that now their menial tasks will continue with no change, due to the rejection. Inose embarrassingly reveals that the situation had gotten so bad that even the Fourth Division had gotten him to do all their laundry, causing Izuru notable distress as well. Kibune arrives in the office and informs them all that while the proposal was rejected, Jūshirō Ukitake and Shunsui Kyōraku both liked the idea so he believed the opinions may all change soon.[2]

Ep179SquadConfrontsKibune
They all question Kibune.

Izuru confronts the officer about seeing him enter the Kasumiōji Noble Family complex, something that surprises Inose and the rest of the members present. Kibune, however denies this event, stressing that a noble family like that would not want to associate with a lowly Shinigami like him. Inose sees the logic in his explanation and immediately agrees with it along with Aida, clearly of the belief that Kibune is as honorable as he portrayed himself to be. Before Izuru can press the issue, a Jigokuchō arrives and alerts them that Menos have appeared in the Seireitei.[2]

Ep179SquadDisobeysIzuru
The squad disobey Izuru.

Others of the squad begin to panic as their captain is not present, so they are unsure of what to do. Aida insists they should move out and when Kanō begins to protest, Inose maintains that this is their chance to prove their worth with their new strength as a squad. Kibune agrees with them and they begin to move out, however Izuru orders them to stop and wait for the captain to return. Kibune challenges his decision and Inose decides to allow him to take the lead instead of Izuru, believing he thinks the squad can't handle the Menos Grande.[2]

Ep179AidaInoseStopFight
Inose tries to stop a fight breaking out.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

They all head to the stated area only to find it empty, with Izuru deciding they should head back, as they have no confirmation of any sightings, thus they do not know what they are dealing with. Inose objects to the suggestion along with the others, while Kibune admonishes Izuru for damaging their camaraderie when the morale of the squad is so high. The entire emergency is revealed to be a ruse by Yamamoto, proving that states of confusions causes even members of the same division to turn on one another. Izuru continues to insist that they stop searching or he will be forced to take action, and Kibune agrees to fight him.[2]

Ep179SquadsPassThird
The other divisions pass the Third Division.

Captain Amagai arrives then and apologizes to the squad for leaving them on their own due to drinking too much alcohol and passing out, much to Inose's displeasure. Amagai admonishes Kibune for trying to disobey Izuru just as Menos begin to physically manifest in the Seireitei. Suddenly, the Menos appear and the other squads run pass them and the resulting crowd makes it difficult to maneuver. Amagai tells the squads to follow the direction of the Third Division and Inose helps lead the Seventh Division in a more coordinated attack that didn't rely on competition with each other, destroying Yamamoto's dummy Menos.[2]

Ep179Squad3Jubilant
The Third Division express their happiness at gaining some respect and good guidance.
SunXiaAdded by SunXia

Due to the efforts of the Third Division, Yamamoto approves Amagai's plans for joint training sessions among the squads of the Gotei 13. The squad are all ecstatic as they discuss their success in Amagai's office, following the destruction of the Menos. Kanō and Aida maintains that they no longer have anything to be ashamed of now that Amagai was around and Inose enthusiastically agrees with him, asking Amagai if he does as well only to find him falling asleep from the effects of alcohol.[2]

After Amagai decides to help Ichigo, he orders Inose, Aida and Kanō to come with him to the stadium to go after Izuru. Along the way, Inose spots assassins trying to escape with Rurichiyo Kasumiōji, whom they had kidnapped and alerts the others. Amagai insists on pursuing them, telling the others to go to the stadium to support Izuru. Arriving, they stumble upon the fight between Izuru and Kibune, reporting to a relieved Izuru that Amagai is searching for Rurichiyo, the missing heiress. Their lieutenant then reveals that Kibune has been one of the enemies all along. Kibune merely cackles hysterically before attacking the with his Zanpakutō, Reppū, stunning them and forcing them to take cover.[4] They regain their senses in time to witness Izuru protect them, and deal Kibune the final blow. They rush to help Izuru when he collapses following the fight.[5]
