The Gate Guardians are the guardians of the four gates of Seireitei.

West Gate
Jidanbō, is the guardian of the White Road Gate.[1]
South Gate
Hikonyūtō, is the guardian of the Red Hollow Gate.[1]
North Gate
Danzōmaru, is the guardian of the Black Ridge Gate.[1]
East Gate
Kaiwan, is the guardian of the Blue Stream Gate.[1]
Synopsis
Jidanbō is the only gate guardian that Ichigo's group fought when attempting to enter the Seireite. The other three gate guardians are only briefly seen, having betrayed Soul Society and become agents of Aizen, who had hypnotized them.[2] The three are easily defeated by Jidanbō and Kūkaku Shiba.
Trivia
- Jidanbō had said that the other Gatekeepers were on very good terms with each other. Because of this, their nonchalant attitudes towards one of them falling is thought to be so due to the effect of Aizen's Zanpakutō.
- Jidanbō is the only Gatekeeper that has appeared in both the Manga and the Anime of the series; the other three Gatekeepers are shown in the Manga only. However, during the The Bount arc, one of the other Gatekeepers was shown briefly.
