Along with the New Wikia Look, Bleach Wiki is adopting a new, more Bleach-centered theme. This can currently only be seen by enabling the New Look. To view Bleach Wiki in the new look, go to your preferences (top right corner), click the "Skin" tab, select "New Wikia Look" and save. However, since this is a work in progress atm, there may be issues with it. If you come across any problems/incompatibilities with tables/infoboxes etc that do not fit in with the darker theme or anything which is hard to read etc, please report it below. Please be as specific as possible. Thanks, ~~Ууp <talk> 15:15, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Issues
Please place any issues with the new theme here. Please be as specific as possible.
- Discussion Closed & Discussion Resolved templates need updating; search bar needs better contrast/to stand out more; text on main page poll needs fixing re: numbers on the bars (Wikia needs to fix this I think) ~~Ууp <talk> 15:27, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Pages that use tables like the Zanpakutō page and the kidō page need to be fixed, the policy and standards committee table is among these--God (Pray) 15:32, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
- All infoboxes other than the new division ones will need to be changed such as fight infoboxes and such. Link color need to change, white will not work as the color for links. Also, many userboxes need to be fixed--God (Pray) 15:37, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
I can fix most of that just need to rework the coding. The search bar is gonna be an issue, it can't change without changing the entire theme. --Salubri (Talk) 16:44, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
I think the search bar looks fine as is; in fact, I suggest we use that shade of gray for the infoboxes. Many colors contrast with it well, including the text in it and the black background. The white is just far too bright, way too much contrast. Mohrpheus (Talk) 20:08, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
.WikiaSearch input[type="text"] {
background-color: #ffffff;
background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #e1e1e1 0%, #ffffff 40%);
background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, 0% 0%, 0% 100%, color-stop(0%, #e1e1e1), color-stop(40%, #ffffff));
border: 1px solid #e1e1e1;
color: #191919;
}
The above code should allow the search box colour to be changed if there is a desire for it. But since I'm the only one that doesn't like it, it'll probably stay as it is. ~~Ууp <talk> 22:32, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
- If anyone thinks it would be better if the navigation bar was a different colour, so that it stands out better, this thread on Wikia Central seems to show how to change it. ~~Ууp <talk> 11:59, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Comments
Please make any other comments on the new theme here.
For the Fight listing for all if not most the black prevents you from reading all but the hyperlinks here is an example: White Invasion the black may be "too black" to read the black words (I guess making the words white would help)—This unsigned comment is by Desruprot (talk • contribs) . Sign your posts and there are no black words. the words are in a light gray prehaps you need to brighten your screen on normal settings there is no issue. --Salubri (Talk) 04:16, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
I think Desruprot was referring to how it looks in Monaco, where it is in fact black on black atm. ~~Ууp <talk> 09:56, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Seeing as next week we wont have monaco any longer its a pointless argument to make. --Salubri (Talk) 13:36, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Hi guys! I've edited Wikia.css to fix the forum header issue, I made it transparent so it'll look more subtle (you may have to clear your cache to see this change.) If you guys have anything you'd like me to help with, just shoot me a message on my talk page and let me know. I do a lot of CSS (I'm a web developer) so I should be able to help with any CSS issues you see. Cheers! Joey (talk) 23:17, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure if I should be posting on the top or the bottom, sorry if I'm on the wrong spot on the page... I feel that the black background with white text is really... eye-burning. I would suggest a close-to-black blue or purple, because those don't burn the eyes quite as much... Just my opinion though... Hajike Tobiume (talk) 04:05, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
How would navy look? --Bluestripe 18:40, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
- We are using a bleach based color scheme. Black is a principle part of that and white on black is not eye burning. White on black is very common so I see no reason why you would find it difficult to look at--God (Pray) 18:46, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
- I understand what you're doing, and I obviously can't make you do anything. But even if it isn't for you, the white-on-black really does kill my eyes. Even a slightly off-black gray might work better, but again, I can't make you do anything. I just wanted to let you know that for some people, like me, it does in fact hurt the eyes. Hajike Tobiume (talk) 21:08, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
Anyone have any thoughts on the background, specifically if it should be made to stay in place as you scroll, or do people like it scrolling with the page? It's an easy thing to change. Just add the below code to the .css ~~Ууp <talk> 18:56, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
/* stop background image from scrolling */
body { background-attachment: fixed; }
- I like that the background is fixated and does not scroll with the page. The black is soothing to my eyes.--God (Pray) 22:40, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
BLACK BACKGROUND IS BAD!
"People with astigmatism (approximately 50% of the population) find it harder to read white text on black than black text on white. Part of this has to do with light levels: with a bright display (white background) the iris closes a bit more, decreasing the effect of the "deformed" lens; with a dark display (black background) the iris opens to receive more light and the deformation of the lens creates a much fuzzier focus at the eye."
http://www.randomterrain.com/web-design-readability-and-backgrounds.html
Seriously, the black background is a VERY BAD IDEA. It's hard to read text and it is hard to navigate around the site. A black background is an EXTREMELY bad user interface choice. I can't believe anyone needed to tell you this.
It's time to move past the notion that "hip and cool" plays when your audience CAN'T READ the information on your site. All this means is your audience will leave your site for other sites.
As others have posted, please change the background color.
- I never knew the specific reason why my eyes hurt while looking at white-on-black but now I know, because I'm pretty sure my eye doctor said I have astigmatism. I don't agree with how the above comment was phrased, however I do agree with the point of it. So yeah... Thanks for reading my little comment on this. LOL Hajike Tobiume (talk) 23:43, November 17, 2010 (UTC) (Looks like someone didn't sign the above as well...)
- I don't think white on black is a bad idea. It's generally much more relaxing for the eyes (the amount of actual brightness that gets through is less, and you can read more in less time). I have some problems with the fixed width (on a 16:9 screen, reading text that is only 400 pixels wide is not something I love doing) but that's not your fault.
- So, good job on the new colors !!! (I really love them, and I love how the page looks like when I am writing this comment). Thanks! —This unsigned comment is by RaptorClaw (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
- It is only "relaxing to the eye" if you don't have astigmatism. Which, as mentioned above, about 50% of the population has. That means you've probably lost half your visitors. I know I used to come by almost every day, but because of the black background, I feel really really dizzy just typing this, and it drives me crazy. Needless to say, I only come by once or twice ever month or so, nowadays... I really love this site, the content and organization is awesome. I just wish I could see it without straining myself. I know it's probably very hard for you to understand, if you don't have astigmatism, as you can't possibly see what I see. But I still think even a medium-dark grey would be better than this black background. I don't mind the background image being black toward the bottom, but with the white text, it's really really really bad... Sorry I keep complaining, but I just want to be albe to enjoy what used to be one of my very favorite websites... Hajike Tobiume (talk)

- We have changed around the site to fit with the black background. It would take a lot of work to change that now. The fact remains that we have not lost any of our actual editors due to it. If you do not like the background, you do not have to come here. No one is forcing you.--God (Pray) 04:53, December 25, 2010 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you guys could maybe have two themes, a Black and a white and users can change it accordingly to how they want to. I personally do not mind about Black on white or White on Black but I am kind of irritated with some of the custom signatures that users have, Some of these colors are very illegible on a dark background. Krishnaisme (talk) 08:57, December 25, 2010 (UTC)
I think the black background is here to stay, but it is possible for individual users to have different themes displayed for themselves (and only themselves) via their personal .CSS files, just as it is possible for users to hide features like facebook like etc. I'll post some details of how to do it later as I don't have time right now. ~~Ууp <talk> 12:01, December 25, 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, this is not pretty because so much of the site has been customized for the current look, but this is the best I can do. Go to User:Hajike Tobiume/wikia.css (substituting Hajike Tobiume for your own user name if that is not you), add the code below and save. You may have to force your browser to purge its cache (ctrl + F5 in firefox does the trick) or you might have to wait a while to see the change. This will change it to black text on white background, but you can use whatever colours you want. Find a colour you like on Help:Color and copy its 6 digit code, replacing the 6 digits in the example below (The background and text are in the "WikiaPage" piece near the top, while the last two are for the links). Feel free to ask myself or another Admin or Committee member for help if you have any trouble. ~~Ууp <talk> 22:47, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

Here is another Issue you need to address, when I try to use any of the menu items to add a hyperlink, etc I am unable to read it completely

- That one can be fixed easily. Just do not use the rich text editor. If you go to your preferences you can disable it. The rich text editor causes a lot of problems and wikia is looking into either getting rid of it or doing a major overhaul of it.--God (Pray) 17:00, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
I've updated the code a bit to address some issues with dark text on dark background. More to do. ~~Ууp <talk> 19:35, January 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I reported the issue with the RTE to Wikia and got a reply back saying that they have increased the priority on this bug (I guess this means others have reported it before) and that there are improvements for the RTE in the pipeline. Also, made a couple more tweaks to the alternate colour scheme. Again, it aint perfect, but considering the lack of complaints, I can only assume that it is acceptable. ~~Ууp <talk> 18:56, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
Ugh, word of warning to anyone using this: some recent changes by Wikia have meant that this code no longer appears to work. Sorry. (Also unstickied as it is an old topic.) ~~Ууp <talk> 22:35, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
