Is it just me or did something seem sort of off in the art in episode 243? A lot of the facial expressions looked horribly distorted and overly shaded with dark colors to me. I didn't know if I just watched a poor-quality video, or if other people thought the faces looked kind of strange too. (In particular, Yumichika's, Kira's, and Fuji Kujaku's stood out as being odd to me.) Twocents 03:58, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
It's not just you. I thought so too, but mostly just with Ruri'iro Kujaku and Yumichika. It's possible they might have added onto the animation staff. Also, I think we were supposed to see Izuru bluffing, but that might just be me. Arrancar109 04:01, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
Okay - I noticed that it happened a lot more with Ruri'iro Kujaku and Yumichika than with Izuru, so that makes sense. I must say, though, I'm not really a fan of this style. I think it really distorts the characters Tite created. Twocents 04:05, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
I was going to make a forum for this right now, but just as I'm about to, I see this. I agree, it looks awful. They did it to Renji in the third movie and it just distorts them and makes them look so bad. I just don't understand and I'm hoping it's only a passing trend. BollyW 04:12, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
Sadly, I don't think it is a passing trend. I remember many scenes that had close ups of characters faces that totally distorted their appearance. Especially Kenpachi's face (I think it may have been in the Nnoitra battle). It seems sometimes that they are just trying too hard. Trying to add too much detail, and while sometimes it is passable, more often than not it doesn't work. About this episode in particular: the animation quality of it dropped somewhat from the recent (excellent) level that it had been at. I noticed that Fuji Kujaku's hand guard was square most of the time (should have sections of the square cut out). Also, there were too many long pauses as well. It couldn't be more obvious that they were stalling for time as if they made the episode, then realised they had another minute left to fill, but nothing to fill it with. (I may be exaggerating ever so slightly). --Yyp 10:24, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
I personally was excessively disturbed by Kira's facial expressions. There was just something so off about them. :( Tinni 10:56, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
I feel the same way, Yyp! It seems like, when they don't have manga chapters for information to fill the episodes with, they don't know what to do to fill the entire time slot. I'm enjoying the filler arc, but it does seem like they're wasting a lot of time with frivolous filler.
Tinni, Kira was really creepy that episode, I totally concur! However, I was most disturbed by Yumichika's, just because, for someone who cares so much about beauty, they gave him some really ugly facial expressions. Twocents 19:00, November 3, 2009 (UTC)
Anime Style
Edit
Has the Anime lost some of it's raw power? It's cleaner and more realistic but I think I would prefer the old style with Manga shaded lines during the SS arc. I also think it's weird how blood is colored now and the fact that they cut out a lot of scenes that involve minor violence that they could have easily shown back in the old arc OdoriZame 22:47, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree that they go to an effort to censor things that it seems nonsensical to censor. For example, Rangiku can't be punched in the side as bad as she was in the manga, but you can cut off half of Allon's body? But I doubt they're doing it just for the fun of deviating from the manga - it's likely because of stricter laws. Twocents 00:08, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- That and the different time-slot. Bleach used to air much later in the day than it currently does. But don't think that the SS arc is all that great either - they censored a fair bit back then too. For example Jidanbou getting his arm chopped off by Ichimaru was turned into a gash on his arm instead. Or the deaths of Aoga & Kanisawa. --Yyp 14:15, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention the purple ball that Szayel ate and the glowing red portals that Apache, Mila-Rose, and Sun-Sun had on their arms after summoning Allon. OdoriZame 17:49, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Lower Quality of Characters, Picture/Video wise
Edit
Hey guys, i believe that the quality of the main characters in bleach have lowered. i say in terms of video quality. in 2005-6ish or whenever the SS arc and before happened, the intencity of the characters have lowered. the animations back then were awsome. the intensity of ex. Ishida were insane. i bet we can remember that Ishida had the coolest look and was so sly in everything he did. i believe this was the way he looked. now he looks like a looser with how he is being drawn. this is one of many characters that have been weaken terms of appearence. another Ex is Byakuya. He looked so sick in the SS arc and now the animations have sucked the amazingness out of him. what do you guys think about this. give other examples if need beJaybirt5 16:32, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
