As Ulquiorra Cifer walks down a set of stairs toward him, a stunned Ichigo Kurosaki identifies him by name, prompting Ulquiorra to note that he does not recall introducing himself to Ichigo prior to reaching the bottom of the steps and informing the latter that Rukia Kuchiki is dead, to Ichigo's shock. Ulquiorra elaborates that Rukia and Espada #9. Aaroniero Arruruerie killed each other and asserts that she is quite dead due to a trident being thrust through her abdomen, and when Ichigo accuses him of lying since her Reiatsu only just dropped and questions how he could know this since he did not fight her, Ulquiorra reveals that Aaroniero had the ability and duty of Cognition Synchronization, which allowed him to instantly relay data about any enemy he was facing to all of his comrades. Simultaneously, Orihime Inoue repeatedly bangs on the door of her chamber and begs to be let out, having seen Rukia impaled on Kaien Shiba's Shikai, Nejibana, while crying over Rukia's fate.

Back in the hallway, Ichigo walks away from Ulquiorra and tells the latter that he is going to save Rukia upon being asked. Despite Ulquiorra reiterating that Rukia is dead, Ichigo refuses to believe him, leaving Ulquiorra to accept this and question why Ichigo is not killing him first. In turn, Ichigo observes that he has no reason to kill Ulquiorra, to the latter's confusion, and points out how he has not hurt any of Ichigo's friends yet even though they are enemies. However, Ulquiorra reveals that he is the one who brought Orihime to Hueco Mundo, which causes an angered Ichigo to put down Nel Tu, immediately attack Ulquiorra with his Shikai, Zangetsu, and confirm that Orihime did not come here of her own free will after all, though Ulquiorra merely blocks this with his wrist and comments on how interesting it is that Ichigo came all the way here to save Orihime even though he was not sure of her innocence.

When Ichigo demands to know if Ulquiorra knows that everyone believes Orihime is a traitor because of what he did, Ulquiorra affirms this as being exactly what he intended and wonders if Ichigo has a reason to fight him now. With Nel huddling down and sheltering herself from the intense clash, Ichigo disengages from Ulquiorra to tell her to stay back and observe that they are going to do this the hard way. After apologetically asserting that he will not hold back because he is in a hurry, Ichigo activates his Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, and leaps out of the resulting surge of Reiatsu. Despite being initially unfazed by this, Ulquiorra is startled to see Ichigo wearing his Hollow mask just before the latter comes down on him with a Reiatsu-infused strike of his sword, forcing an unnerved Ulquiorra to block this with his wrist once again.

Ichigo slashes his sword forward, sending Ulquiorra flying back and crashing through several pillars. Upon landing on the side of a pillar with his feet and questioning why Ichigo is so akin to the Arrancar with his mask and Reiatsu, Ulquiorra sees Ichigo firing a massive Getsuga Tenshō at him and attempts to stop it by grabbing the blast with his right hand. However, the Getsuga Tenshō continues pushing him back even after he grabs it with his other hand, and a nonplussed Ulquiorra is engulfed in an enormous blast as the energy overwhelms him.

Ulquiorra Cifer rapidly overpowers Ichigo Kurosaki and reveals his Espada rank.

In the aftermath of his massive Bankai- and Hollow mask-enhanced Getsuga Tenshō fired at Ulquiorra Cifer, an exhausted Ichigo Kurosaki stands in the clearing dust as his mask shatters and falls off his face in pieces. When Nel Tu calls out to him, Ichigo turns around in relief, only for Nel to slam headlong into his face with enough force to slam him against a pillar several meters away and lament that she thought Ichigo was going to be killed, with Ichigo confirming that he believed Nel would do this. Nel admonishes Ichigo for using so much of his power when already injured and tells him to never do this again before crying into his chest, leading Ichigo to apologize to her and begin getting to his feet so they can get going.

Suddenly, after Ichigo assures Nel that he is fine and they just have to hurry, Ulquiorra emerges from the cloud of dust behind him with only a few light scratches, to Ichigo's astonishment, and admits to being surprised since he could not stop that attack even with both hands. Questioning if this was the best that Ichigo had, Ulquiorra infers from Ichigo's stunned gaze that it was and holds up his right index finger as he calls this unfortunate. With Ichigo realizing what he is about to do, Ulquiorra fires a Cero that engulfs Ichigo and Nel, sending the former crashing through the far wall onto the sands outside with burns and blood covering the left side of his body while carrying an unconscious and injured Nel. When Ichigo attempts to move back inside to tend to Nel, Ulquiorra appears next to him with Sonído and delivers a powerful kick to Ichigo's side, resulting in him smashing into the upper portion of one of the nearby leaning towers.

As Ichigo struggles to catch his breath, Ulquiorra joins him in the tower and observes that Ichigo quickly summoned his Hollow mask again when blocking the Cero, but recalls that it shattered immediately and concludes that Ichigo will not be able to generate it again before telling Ichigo to give up. In response, Ichigo stabs his sword into Ulquiorra's left shoulder and refuses to ever give up as he declares that defeating Ulquiorra will effectively end the war since the latter is obviously the most powerful Espada. However, Ulquiorra simply calls this unfortunate and grabs Ichigo's sword by the blade to pull the left half of his coat to the side, exposing his tattoo of the number 4 on his left pectoral and clarifying to an aghast Ichigo that he is only Espada #4.

Ulquiorra shoves his left hand into a stunned Ichigo's chest and bluntly states that the latter cannot defeat him. Noting that there are three Espada stronger than he is even if Ichigo could do so, Ulquiorra pulls his hand out of Ichigo's chest, leaving the latter to collapse, and concludes that there can be no victory for him here.

272. Don't Kill My Volupture[]

Ulquiorra Cifer leaves Ichigo Kurosaki to die as Uryū Ishida joins the battle against Szayelaporro Granz.

Summary:

Standing before an unmoving and heavily bleeding Ichigo Kurosaki with his left hand coated in the former's blood, Ulquiorra Cifer observes that he overestimated Ichigo's strength. After asserting that this is the end for Ichigo, who remains unresponsive, Ulquiorra orders him to leave Hueco Mundo immediately if he can still move and to die if he cannot because his quest is at an end while exiting the tower, leaving Ichigo to continue lying motionless as his Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, automatically dissipates and returns to its Shikai state.

Simultaneously, in her chamber, Orihime Inoue senses the plummet of Ichigo's Reiatsu and turns to her door when it begins to open in expectation of Ulquiorra entering, only to be unnerved when Loly Aivirrne looks through the ajar door with Menoly Mallia and confirms that Orihime is alone prior to eerily asking the latter if she can come out to play. Meanwhile, in Szayelaporro Granz's palace, a yelling 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai attacks with his Shikai, Zabimaru, only for Szayelaporro to easily sidestep the extended blade as it slams into the ground where he was standing, stomp down on it to break off one of its fang-like protrusions, and dismissively toss this away after catching and examining it because Renji is boring him.

When a bloodied and panting Renji demands to know what he said, Szayelaporro reiterates that Renji is boring and elaborates that Zabimaru is a power-type Zanpakutō with no unique properties and an extremely simple shape variation theory, which means there is nothing more to observe here. Deciding to end this, Szayelaporro presses a trigger to summon several of his Fracción, which burst through the walls and ceiling behind him, and explains to a shocked Renji that the Espada are allowed to select Arrancar below the rank of 11th as their minions, with some choosing one and other choosing many. After noting that his Fracción are unique because they consist of Hollows whom he modified and had turned into Arrancar by Sōsuke Aizen, Szayelaporro decides that this has been enough conversation and concludes that he will not be killing Renji himself because the latter is not worthy prior to announcing that this is the finale. Suddenly, Medazeppi is shot through the side by a large Heilig Pfeil, and as a startled Szayelaporro turns to a newly-created hole in the wall above, a bloodied Uryū Ishida notes that it is unfortunate for the Arrancar that the walls of Las Noches are not made of Sekkiseki since he could hear their Reiatsu echoing through three walls before telling a stunned Renji that it looks like someone beat him up.

Back in Orihime's chamber, Loly strikes Orihime in the face, drawing blood in the process, and sends her flying across the room. Laughing maniacally, Loly grabs Orihime by her hair and holds her aloft to disparage the idea of a Human defeating an Arrancar, but a bloodied Orihime merely stares at her silently, prompting an angered Loly to punch Orihime in the face for doing so. Despite Menoly warning her to be quieter, Loly tells her to shut up and decides to pull out Orihime's fingernails just before the doorway behind them explodes outward in a surge of energy, allowing Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez to step through the door and stand before an intimidated Loly and Menoly.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez saves Orihime Inoue from her torment so she can do something for him as Uryū Ishida confronts Szayelaporro Granz.

Summary:

The cover page of 273. DOG eat DOG.

Approaching a frightened Loly Aivirrne and Menoly Mallia as they assault Orihime Inoue, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez infers that they snuck in here while Ulquiorra Cifer was away and questions if they are having fun. In response to Loly demanding to know what he wants, Grimmjow kicks her hard in the abdomen, sending her flying away from Orihime and causing her to vomit from the trauma to her organs, and when an angered Menoly attempts to attack him with a Cero formed around her fist, Grimmjow simply grabs her fist, dispersing the energy around it in the process, and fires his own Cero that destroys the top half of Menoly's body, which Orihime watches in shock.

With Grimmjow turning his attention back to her, Loly warns him that Sōsuke Aizen will punish him for this, only for Grimmjow to grab her left leg by the ankle and press his own foot against her kneecap before ripping it off despite Loly's frantic pleas for mercy, causing her blood to spatter on the wall as she screams in agony. After silencing Loly when she declares that Aizen will kill him for this, Grimmjow asserts that Aizen does not care what he does to them and turns to Orihime, who wonders why he did this. In turn, Grimmjow asserts that he did so for his left arm and grabs a confused Orihime by the collar to hold her aloft and clarify that he came here to repay his debt to her rather than simply help her, which is why there is something she is going to do for him now that they are even.

Meanwhile, in Szayelaporro Granz's palace, his Fracción bemoan Medazeppi's death and turn their ire toward Uryū Ishida, who stands in a hole in the wall above them and observes that there are a lot of them even though they do not seem very tough. Hiding behind a pillar near Uryū, Pesche Guatiche asks him if he scared the Arrancar to the point of shaking, though an annoyed Uryū simply tells him to continue hiding so he does not ruin the moment and looks at Szayelaporro, who smirks back at him from behind his Fracción before yelling at them to be quiet so their guest can say what he wants to say. Uryū thanks Szayelaporro for this and apologizes for his bluntness in confirming this before inquiring if Szayelaporro is an Espada, which leads Szayelaporro to identify himself as Espada #8.

Though Uryū admits that this does not sound too scary, Szayelaporro warns him to not be fooled since he is still stronger than Uryū is and wonders who the latter is, and when Uryū introduces himself as a Quincy, an elated Szayelaporro realizes he is the one who fought Cirucci Sanderwicci, whom he casually disparages as idiotic, and celebrates encountering both a Quincy and a Bankai user at once. However, as Szayelaporro proclaims that Yammy Llargo would be howling with joy and calling this lucky, Uryū appears behind him with Hirenkyaku and states that he does not know who Yammy is prior to declaring that having someone with as many openings as Szayelaporro in his sights makes him feel lucky too and firing a Seele Schneider from his Heilig Bogen, Ginrei Kojaku, directly at a stunned Szayelaporro.

274. The Monster[]

Orihime Inoue heals her assailants as Uryū Ishida finds himself overwhelmed by Szayelaporro Granz and his Fracción.

Summary:

Uryū Ishida fires a Seele Schneider from his Heilig Bogen, Ginrei Kojaku, at Szayelaporro Granz, who is pierced directly between his clavicles by the blade and falls to his knees as his Fracción call out to him in concern. Suddenly, the blade of the Seele Schneider dissipates in a burst of energy, to Uryū's shock, and a maniacally laughing Szayelaporro calls him foolish for believing his arrow could pierce, puncture, or penetrate Szayelaporro before bringing up his knowledge of Uryū's battle against Cirucci Sanderwicci and revealing that he has already analyzed the latter's abilities.

Meanwhile, in Orihime Inoue's chamber, Menoly Mallia wakes up on the floor and wonders how she is alive after being blasted point-blank by Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez's Cero, prompting Loly Aivirrne to inform her that Orihime did it as she huddles against the wall with her head in her arms.

In the past, Grimmjow tells Orihime to heal her face since she cannot have bruises all over it if she is going to be hanging around him, but once Grimmjow sets her down to do so, Orihime instead runs over to Loly, sets her severed right leg by her stump, and forms Sōten Kisshun over it to begin healing the wound, which leads Loly to angrily hit Orihime in the face for touching her. However, Orihime continues reattaching Loly's leg without reacting and walks over to Menoly's corpse once she is done to begin reconstituting her upper body with Sōten Kisshun as well, leaving Loly to watch her in confusion and horror.

In the present, a sweating Loly questions what this was and what Orihime is prior to claiming that the latter is a monster.

Back in Szayelaporro's palace, Uryū evades a punch from a large Arrancar whose fist unfurls into several tendrils that stab into the ground where Uryū was standing. When Uryū fires a Heilig Pfeil at its head, Szayelaporro tells him to not bother while the projectile disintegrates in front of the Arrancar's face, and when another bulky Arrancar appears next to Uryū, Szayelaporro warns him that Ginrei Kojaku will disappear too just before it disperses in Uryū's hands, leaving him defenseless while the Arrancar attempts to punch him with a massive fist. Suddenly, 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai appears in front of Uryū and catches the Arrancar's fist with his Shikai, Zabimaru, as he tells Uryū to figure out a way to defeat Szayelaporro instead of just standing there. With Uryū assuring him that he will, a grinning Renji forces the Arrancar back and instructs Uryū to not mess up since he is counting on the latter, prompting Uryū to assert that Renji does not need to worry about him and should focus on not messing up instead while a smiling Szayelaporro watches them.

Uryū Ishida and 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai team up against Szayelaporro Granz.

Summary:

The cover page of 275. The United Front 2[Red & White].

Facing down Szayelaporro Granz alongside Uryū Ishida, 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai is asked about how long he can hold off Szayelaporro and estimates that he can do so for twenty seconds at most. In response, Uryū affirms that this should be enough as an intrigued Szayelaporro tells his Fracción to stay back so he can find out what Uryū and Renji can do in their condition. Nearby, Pesche Guatiche slides down one of the pillars lining the walls while quietly screaming in pain, but lands crotch-first on an upturned chunk of rock and falls to the ground while denying that it hurt him before complaining about Uryū going off on his own and depriving him of the second half of his comedy team that could have pointed out how his fall was real instead of comic relief.

Suddenly, Pesche sees Dondochakka Birstanne's foot sticking out of the rubble several meters away and realizes that he was not only with Renji, but ended up in this comedic position completely by chance, to Pesche's irritation. Despite this, Pesche creeps behind the rubble separating him from the Fracción so he can save Dondochakka and prays that he is not noticed, which leads him to assure himself that he does not lack presence even though none of the Fracción know that he is here, only to mentally admit that he is slightly sad over no one actually knowing he is here and that it would be nice if he was noticed just a little. However, upon being reached by Pesche, Dondochakka bursts out of the rubble and loudly greets a startled Pesche. As Dondochakka tearfully proclaims that Pesche has come to save him and that he was so scared, Pesche warns him to be quiet just before the Fracción begin ganging up on him, only to be sent flying by a massive blast of force from behind, to Pesche's confusion.

On the other side of the chamber, Renji rapidly spins his Shikai, Zabimaru, in a wide arc above his head, generating radial waves of force outward from his position, and as Szayelaporro comments on him choosing brute strength out of all possible courses of action, Renji sends Zabimaru hurtling toward him, prompting Szayelaporro to deflect it with his own Zanpakutō and call this pathetic. Suddenly, Renji rushes forward, grabs a surprised Szayelaporro by the collar, and wraps the blade segments of Zabimaru around the two of them, binding them together in place with the end segment embedded in the ground nearby. With Szayelaporro questioning what this awkward position is, Renji mumbles an incantation under his breath and admits that there is a wide gap in power between Szayelaporro and his Shikai, with him also not being very effective at close-range combat either, before pointing out how Szayelaporro is helpless at this distance despite being much more powerful than him while generating red, smoking energy in his left hand, alerting Szayelaporro in the process.

After revealing that he has never been good at Kidō and always got reprimanded by his teachers for not controlling it better, Renji invites Szayelaporro to find out which of them is more durable and unleashes a point-blank Hadō #31. Shakkahō, resulting in a large explosion of energy that engulfs the two of them and reaches the ceiling above. In the aftermath, a burnt Szayelaporro stumbles out of the smoke as Renji collapses behind him and curses the latter, but is interrupted when Uryū appears several meters behind him and levels a Seele Schneider at Szayelaporro, whom he brings up moving away from Renji just as the latter attacked in order to maintain the distance between them and accuses of preferring to look down on his enemies by keeping just out of their reach. When Szayelaporro wonders why this matters since Uryū likes to attack from behind and assumes that Uryū believes he has won, Uryū confirms this, flips the Seele Schneider so its blade is pointing downward, and stabs it into the ground, causing energy from it to extend outward and connect to a shocked Szayelaporro alongside four other Seele Schneider embedded in the ground around him in a pentagonal formation. Though Szayelaporro insists that he sealed all of Uryū's weapons, Uryū counters that there are things Szayelaporro does not know about the world and tells him that it is over in Spanish prior to pouring the contents of a Gintō onto the Seele Schneider in front of him, engulfing Szayelaporro in a massive pentagonal explosion as Uryū walks away and discards the Gintō.

Poured onto a Seele Schneider by Uryū Ishida, the contents of a Gintō activate a surge of energy leading toward a stunned Szayelaporro Granz and initiate Sprenger, a massive pentagonal explosion of energy that engulfs him. With Szayelaporro's concerned Fracción rushing toward him and past Uryū in the aftermath, Pesche Guatiche asks Uryū what this move was, prompting Uryū to explain that Sprenger consists of him creating a zone of destruction with Seele Schneider, which store Reishi in their pommels to maintain themselves against a Reishi-diffusing enemy, and marking a Quincy Zeichen on the ground before creating a large explosion inside of the zone with a drop of concentrated Reishi from a Gintō. However, Uryū clarifies that its lengthy setup time makes it useless in single combat despite its power unless the user has dependable backup, which leads a prone 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai to dismiss Uryū's attempt at flattering him, though Uryū insists that he is being sincere.

Suddenly, a badly burned and bloodied Szayelaporro makes his presence known within the clearing smoke behind Uryū, who is startled alongside Renji and admits that he is amazed at Szayelaporro still being able to stand after this. In response, Szayelaporro reminds Uryū that he has already analyzed the latter's Reiatsu, which allows him to diffuse the impact of any technique Uryū uses even if it is new to him prior to maniacally declaring that he has reduced the damage, grabbing Lumina, and rapidly consuming most of the latter's body, causing his own injuries to quickly heal. After spitting out Lumina's left arm, Szayelaporro tells an aghast Verona to stop screaming because he will make him a new friend later and explains to a stunned Uryū and Renji that his unique Fracción exist to help him recover from his injuries by being eaten, and when Uryū calls him a monster for this, Szayelaporro counters that genius is the more accurate term.

When Szayelaporro turns on his heel and begins to walk away, Uryū demands to know where he is going, prompting Szayelaporro to assert that he is going to change into a new set of clothes since he cannot be expected to fight in the rags of his current outfit. Though Uryū is incredulous at this, Szayelaporro holds out his hand to stop the former and suggests that Uryū and Renji use this time to come up with a plan because he will assuredly be thinking of a horrible way to kill them, leaving Uryū and Renji speechless.

Meanwhile, a battered Nel Tu crawls over the rubble in the tower that Ichigo Kurosaki smashed into to find him lying motionless and unresponsive in a pool of his own blood, causing her to begin crying as she drops to the floor and pulls herself over to Ichigo, whom she repeatedly begs to not die. However, Nel finds her path blocked when Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez appears in front of her and tells her to get out of the way.

277. Corrosion of Conformity[]

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez has Orihime Inoue begin healing Ichigo Kurosaki so they can battle.

Summary:

The cover page of 277. Corrosion of Conformity.

With a terrified Nel Tu recognizing him, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez approaches a motionless Ichigo Kurosaki and flips the latter over with a rough kick, exposing the hole left in the center of his chest by Ulquiorra Cifer's hand, which Grimmjow notes he expected. Though Nel begs him to not harm Ichigo, Grimmjow instead brings out a bound and gagged Orihime Inoue from underneath a cloak, and as a stunned Orihime falls to her knees in front of Ichigo with her gag removed, Grimmjow sits down on a chunk of rubble behind her and orders Orihime to heal Ichigo.

While an intimidated Loly Aivirrne and Menoly Mallia find themselves confronted in Orihime's chamber by Ulquiorra, who wonders what has happened, Nel blames herself for Ichigo's injuries since he shielded her from Ulquiorra's Cero with his own body and got beaten up afterward, but as Nel pleads with Orihime to save Ichigo, Grimmjow tells her to shut up and threatens to obliterate her if she does not. After a frightened Nel complies with this, Grimmjow asserts that Ichigo does not need her help and tells her to watch as Orihime mentally notes that she cannot reject the tremendous Reiatsu swirling around Ichigo's wounds. When Orihime wonders who could do something like this, Grimmjow informs her that it was Ulquiorra while the latter simultaneously learns from Loly that Grimmjow is the one who took Orihime.

Grimmjow elaborates that Ulquiorra always unconsciously leaves a hole in the same location as his own on opponents he is intrigued by, and as Grimmjow promises to teach him a lesson for going after someone else's prey, Ulquiorra leaves Loly and Menoly in Orihime's chamber. Suddenly, Ichigo's fingers twitch and he regains consciousness, resulting in him recognizing Orihime and Nel as they call out to him in relief, but Grimmjow angrily tells Orihime to heal Ichigo instead of wasting time. Upon being asked about what he is doing with Orihime by Ichigo, Grimmjow declares that she is going to heal Ichigo because he wants the latter healthy when he kills him, leaving Orihime aghast at Grimmjow wanting her to heal Ichigo solely so he can kill the latter. With Grimmjow questioning if she would rather leave him to die instead and warning her that Ulquiorra will be here soon, Ulquiorra suddenly appears behind Grimmjow with Sonído and glares at him.

278. Heal for The Crash[]

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez clashes with Ulquiorra Cifer to ensure that Ichigo Kurosaki is healed for their battle.

Summary:

278Cover

The cover spread of 278. Heal for The Crash.

Having confronted Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in the tower where he ended his battle with Ichigo Kurosaki, Ulquiorra Cifer questions what Grimmjow is doing here and why he is having Orihime Inoue heal someone Ulquiorra defeated. With Grimmjow remaining silent, Ulquiorra infers that he has nothing to say for himself and stares at Orihime, who looks away, before dismissing this as irrelevant and ordering Grimmjow to give Orihime to him since Sōsuke Aizen put her under his supervision. However, Grimmjow refuses to do so and comments on how chatty Ulquiorra is today just before lunging forward to grab at Ulquiorra, who blocks this with the back of his left hand.

After asserting that he knows Ulquiorra is afraid to fight him under the belief that they might kill each other, Grimmjow fires a point-blank Cero that sends Ulquiorra flying back, but as Grimmjow claims that he knew Ulquiorra would deflect it and that one strike would not be enough, Ulquiorra reappears above Grimmjow with Sonído and points his index finger down at Grimmjow's head to begin charging his own Cero with it. However, Grimmjow responds to this by holding his palm up against Ulquiorra's finger and firing another Cero in turn, creating an explosion of energy that levels the upper portion of the tower and engulfs a slightly burnt Ulquiorra in a large, swirling cloud of dust. From behind Ulquiorra, Grimmjow reaches over his shoulder and deposits a Caja Negación into Ulquiorra's Hollow hole, which causes ricocheting beams of energy to burst outward and encase an annoyed Ulquiorra prior to seemingly erasing him from existence.

Having erected Santen Kesshun in front of herself and Ichigo to protect from this, Orihime dispels the barrier and wonders what this was, prompting a landing Grimmjow to explain that Caja Negación are given to the Espada by Aizen to punish their Fracción with by sealing them inside a pocket dimension forever, though it was not designed for use against Espada and can likely only hold Ulquiorra for a few hours at most. Despite this, when Grimmjow orders her to continue healing Ichigo, Orihime refuses, and though Grimmjow grabs her by the throat and declares that he is not asking her, Orihime vows to not help him kill Ichigo, to Grimmjow's further frustration.

Suddenly, Ichigo grabs Grimmjow's arm and tells him to let Orihime go, which Grimmjow does, before asking Orihime to heal his wounds as well as those of Grimmjow, who has had his right armed severely burned by his clash with Ulquiorra. Grimmjow claims that he does not want Ichigo's pity, only for Ichigo to remind Grimmjow that he wanted a fair fight and assume that he wants to keep his wounds so he has an excuse when he loses. In response, Grimmjow draws his Zanpakutō and attacks Ichigo, who blocks with his Shikai, Zangetsu, prior to proclaiming that they will have a good clean murder.

Author's Notes[]

Volume 31 Intro Image
I got a fan letter the other day that said, "Congratulations on passing the 30-volume mark! Thirty is an excellent number! It's not too many or too few. But now you've entered dangerous waters."

I thought to myself, I need to work harder. Oh, by the way, a second Bleach movie is coming out!
