The State of the War
This was intended to be a comment, but my mind wandered and a blog would be better to contain my thoughts.
Now that the Pernida fight seems to be over, I'll give my thoughts on the fight as a whole. Originally I did not like it because it was one of the longest fights of this arc and on some occasions it seemed that little happened in some chapters. But then I realized that was the fight's strength.
Kubo did not resurrect the Shutzstaffel merely to extend the storyline and bring it to 700+ chapters *cough cough Naruto cough cough*, nor did he do so just to give the Shinigami something to do besides run around Wahrwelt. The Shutzstaffel are the Quincy's elite, but their image was somewhat tarnished due to the fact that they were in over their…

Well, this was a hell of a chapter to read at 2 in the morning after 4 hours of sleep.
So we start off with what amounts to 3 straight pages of falling as Kubo sets up the title. I'd complain, but Nemu's got hips that don't lie, so eh. However, the bits and pieces of Pernida's clone falling with Nemu aren't quite dead, and after growing more arms and fingers because...reasons, they impale her with nerves and tear her apart. Ouch. Looking at this, Mayuri is legitimately driven into despair, resulting in perhaps the most unexpected cameo in this arc - Szayelaporro Granz, who appears as a sort of vision to Mayuri in the vein of Kenpa…

So we start off with Nemu revealing herself to be Mayuri's supplier by handing him his regenerative drug; apparently, she stepped in just to do this. After Mayuri regenerates in a typically gross fashion (how I miss Ulquiorra and his simple arm regenerations), Mayuri is told that, in what is apparently an OOC move for him, he didn't take any drugs before the fight started...which he thinks is creepy for Nemu to have noticed. That makes two times in the last 6 chapters that Mayuri has found something creepy. Wow.

Theory on the Soul King
Thinking about the more recent chapters on the manga, I think I've come up with a possible explanation for all the strange happenings centered around the Soul King, Pernida Parnkgjas, and Yhwach. The Soul King is shown to have no limbs, but two of them have been seen, being Mimihagi, his right hand, and Pernida Parnkgjas, his left hand. Pernida, however, is on the side of the Quincies, the people who killed the Spirit King, and Yhwach, the first Quincy, has called the Soul King "father". All of these facts confused me, at first, but I think I may have a theory that explains them.

Pernida -- A Theory
Just a theory about what pernida actually is. I haven't heard anyone else suggest this yet, so I want to put the idea out there.
I do NOT believe the left arm of the soul king is evil/a quincy/or actually Pernida. I think the actual body of Pernida is a ball of nerves. It may be a logical jump that the quincies captured the left arm of the soul king, and that Pernida used the compulsory to take control of it.
Short story is, I think the left arm is a neutral player, and a captive of Pernida, who may be able to switch between hosts.
This could make for a fun plot point if pernida were to attempt or even succeed to invade Kurotsuchi.

Pernida and Mimihagi
Quick question. So it was recently revealed that Pernida is the left arm of the Soul King and several chapters before that we were introduced to Mimihagi, who is the right arm of the Soul King. So they are both former parts of the Soul King (the Soul King has no limbs which is probably the way the Shinigami restricted the Soul King's power) yet Pernida is referred to as a Quincy and one is referred to as a god. Unless I'm missing something, why are they classified as two different species? Shouldn't they both be listed as gods or as Quincy?

So I'm thinking about who is gonna face whom in the final arc. My bets are: 1. Jugram Haschwalth vs Shunsui Kyōraku because games have a lot to do with chance and Balance. Also, because it is logical that the second best fighters meet in battle. 2. Well, Kubo, you managed to surprise me with a chapter title for the first time since What The Hell. Not bad.
So we start off with, well, more Yhwach. Apparently, he's naming his new castle itself Wahrwelt, which, as I have learned from the raw, has underlying kanji meaning "True World Castle". Which explains a lot. Somehow, both scan groups failed to note this; only Viz did. Viz.
